Julie is a multi-award-winning menopause coach, published author, speaker and practitioner, supporting women in menopause and mid-life. Her focus is on a human approach to a human issue - moving women from flat and frazzled to focused and confident - Julie coaches women through menopause. Not the medical side, but the daily reality of it: the exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix, the weight that arrives without anything changing, the feeling that you've lost track of who you are.
She came to it the way most good practitioners do, through her own version of it, and she now runs a wellbeing studio built around exactly this.
What she's good at is the practical. What to eat, how to get your energy back, how to have the conversation with a partner who thinks you're just being difficult.
Send her a question before the call and she'll answer it properly.
What was asked
Every question here was sent in by someone in the room. Names and identifying details have been taken out.
Given my history of oestrogen-sensitive breast cancer twice, what treatments are available for menopausal symptoms. The huge range of supplements marketed to help with menopause symptoms, particularly brain fog, weight gain, fatigue and general wellbeing, is overwhelming. Which supplements, if any, have good evidence of being effective and are safe for someone who has to keep their oestrogen low?

Am I going mad? I think i either love everyone or absolutely hate them - i have no tolerance or patience and I think i'm becoming 'not very nice' - i don't know if it's menopause though! How can i begin the process of finding out if it is that?

I’ve got three questions: -firstly, what symptoms get missed in perimenopause and how do you get a doctor to listen to you (whoops, that’s two!) -I’ve been on HRT five years and generally my symptoms are managed but I’ve noticed some changes in my skin, it’s rough in places, like sandpaper. I can’t see the changes but is there anything you’d recommend -after having my coil changed, I’ve been bleeding for five months. I’ve had and internal scan and a biopsy (no cancer) and have to have a hysteroscopy which I’m quite scared about. I’ve asked for a general anaesthetic but what are my options following this if they say no more HRT?

Can breathwork coaching actually help with hot flushes?

Hi Julie What's the best thing for brain fog? Honestly the frustration of forgetting basic words for stuff is driving me madder - it's embarrassing at work and people are noticing. Might be too general a question, but is there something I can do about it?

I've read about how much menopause affects women at work. How can we look after ourselves at work, and is it worth talking to an employer about what we're going through?

I wish I could come on this call. I am away with my family. That's what I want to ask, really. I seem to spend a lot of time lately resenting them, since menopause has really kicked in for me. I hate the little things they do and I have zero patience. I even get annoyed at the way my husband and my son breathe at the dinner table. And don't get me started on the chewing noises. Every little thing makes me resentful and it just feels so bleak. I am on HRT and it's taken the edge off a little but I don't really like who I am, and I feel like I'm trapped in this weird cycle. I just want to be calmer and kinder like i used to be

I used to feel so sure of myself, and now I second guess everything. How do I start to feel like me again?

Part of me wonders if this is a chance to work out who I want to be for the next part of my life, but mostly I just feel lost. How do you help women move from feeling lost to feeling curious about what's next?

My friends don't really talk about menopause, and I feel quite alone with it. How can I start those conversations or find women going through the same thing?
